Radiant Rural works with rural communities across Tanzania to create safer, healthier and more supportive places for children and families to live, learn and grow. Our work brings together education, early childhood development, environmental conservation, water and sanitation, and community development. We focus on practical projects that respond to local needs and create lasting benefits for rural communities.
Every child deserves a safe place to learn, play and grow.
We support early childhood development by developing daycare centres, learning spaces, schools and children's playgrounds in rural communities where access to these facilities is limited.
Our work includes the development of safe and welcoming spaces with essential facilities such as classrooms, kitchens, toilets, washing areas, gardens and outdoor play spaces.
Our goal is not simply to construct buildings, but to create environments that support children's learning, development, health and wellbeing.
We are working towards a long-term goal of establishing 17 daycare and learning centres across the 17 villages of Mkalama District, creating greater opportunities for young children and their communities. Learn more âžœÂ
A healthy learning environment begins with access to clean water and safe sanitation.
We incorporate water, sanitation and hygiene facilities into our education projects, including safe toilets, handwashing areas and access to clean water.
These facilities help protect children's health while also providing opportunities for children to develop everyday hygiene habits.
For us, WASH is more than infrastructure. It is also part of creating a healthier and more sustainable learning environment.

Healthy communities depend on a healthy environment.
Radiant Rural works to protect and restore rural environments affected by logging, farming and overgrazing.
We have planted more than 3,000 trees across rural areas of the Singida and Arusha regions, including degraded semi-arid landscapes.
Tree planting contributes to restoring the landscape while creating greener environments for communities and future generations.
We also support initiatives that connect environmental conservation with local livelihoods, including beekeeping projects in rural communities.
We support community building and sustainable livelihoods such as beekeeping projects. We see beekeeping as an activity that can connect environmental conservation with community livelihoods.
Radiant Rural currently manages beehives in Kinyangiri and Ishenga Villages, supporting the development of beekeeping within rural communities.
By encouraging activities that depend on healthy natural environments, we aim to demonstrate how conservation and community development can work together.
In 2020, Radiant Rural managed to establish a nursery in Mkalama District in Singida region. The project produced more than 1,000 seedlings of 12 different plant species, including fruit and timber trees. All trees were planted in schools, gardens and farms in Mkalama.
In 2021, Clotilde and Shams decided to build a kindergarten and children’s playground in Kinyangiri Village, Tanzania. The project was inspired by the sight of many children roaming the village streets without a safe place to learn and play.
